The values of Geist Community Church drive
why we do
what we do. They serve as a foundation for ministry and guide us
as we seek to fulfill our biblical mission.
Geist Community Church values...
- Worship - Worship is much more than a term referring to singing, music, or a Sunday service. Worship is an active response to
the One and only true God that acknowledges His worth and His work in our lives. We desire to be a church that is marked by
authentic worship of God through solid Bible teaching, purposeful singing, authentic prayer, baptisms, and communion. Ultimately,
worship culminates in the daily lives of each Christ follower as we reflect Godʼs glory in everything we think, say, and do.
- Love - God demonstrated the ultimate example of love by sending His own Son to die for us. Christ taught that love was the
primary difference between those who follow Him and those who do not. Our responsibility is to be a group of people who proclaim
through word and deed our love for God and our love for all people regardless of ethnic, political, economic, or social
status. Thereby, demonstrating to the world the evidence of Christ in us, the hope of glory.
- Team Ministry - We believe God has perfectly gifted and called every Christ follower to significant ministry in the local church
and has entrusted leaders with the responsibility of humbly preparing Godʼs people for service. When the Apostle Paul compared the
church to a body, he made it clear that each member was essential, which means every person at GCC is essential as we connect, grow
and serve together as a community of Christ followers.
- Cultural Relevance - While our God-given mission will not change, the forms ministry takes will constantly be changing. We desire
to be a church that is culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure. We will do whatever it takes to connect people to
Christ and help them learn to live for Him. When it comes to reaching people with the gospel, the essential message of the gospel
will never change, but our methods of outreach will. Our cultural traditions are expendable because we believe sacrificing for the
gospel sometimes starts with giving up what is comfortable to us.
- Excellence - Excellence is an expectation of God which brings Him honor. We must do our very best with the resources God has
temporarily entrusted to our care to properly reflect His glory among creation.
- Biblical Community - Both Scripture and our experiences tell us that you canʼt follow Jesus alone. We were created to be
relationally connected to God and with other people, which is why we are a group of people who "do life together." The apostle Paul
writes, "let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another." We promote authenticity (truth) in
our daily lives, as it is the fertile soil in which true biblical community flourishes and grows.
