  1. In Revelation 21:1, the first heaven and first earth had passed away. How does this give perspective to things we value and esteem here on earth? What other passages of Scripture help us with this perspective?
  2. Revelation 21:3-4 paints a beautiful picture of God dwelling with mankind. When you think eternal life in the new heavens and new earth, what do you look forward to most?
  3. What does it mean to be “one who conquers” (vs. 7) and what Scriptural support can you use to backup your answer? (see the letters to the churches in Rev. 2-3)  What truths of God’s Word can you use to evaluate your own life to see whether your are “one who conquers?” (see Matt. 5:2-12; Gal. 5:16-26)
  4. Does the image of the new heavens and new earth in Revelation 21 give you hope or cause for concern? Why?

  1. The Bible teaches we can know what path we are on and have assurance of our salvation (cf. 1 John 5:1-13). Which path are you on? How do your beliefs and actions confirm your answer?
  2. What does Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 7:13-29 reveal about all other religions around the world? How does this truth challenge or confirm your understanding of salvation? What other passages of Scripture point to the exclusivity of the Gospel message?
  3. Why is the way to the "narrow gate” hard? How have you experienced such hardships in your life and how did the Lord comfort you during those times?
  4. How might this passage encourage or challenge you as you interact with unbelieving family, friends, and coworkers/classmates?
