Galatians 6:1-10 - Continue in Care for One Another

+ Application Questions

  1. How would one know if another brother or sister is caught in sin? (verse 1)? Do you have friends who know you well enough to know this about your life? (if not, what’s holding you back?) What advice would you give to someone wanting to deepen their vulnerability in friendships?

  2. Have you ever had to live out verses 1-2, where you confront someone, gently, in regards to their sin? (or have you been the one confronted?) What was the outcome of that situation?

  3. Verse 2 seems to specifically refer to helping someone with their burden against temptation and spiritual failure. What do you think it looks like to bear someone else’s burden in this way? Do you have a friend in your life whom you could encourage in their specific fight against sin this week? Are you feeling like you are bearing a particularly heavy burden against a specific temptation? Consider sharing this with your group, and letting them “bear it” with you!

  4. What kind of day-to-day choices could one make that sows to the Spirit? The flesh? What one choice could you make this week to sow to the Spirit more intentionally?

  5. Is there an area of your life where you’re feeling weary of doing good? How does the exhortation and promise of verse 9 encourage you? Is there someone in your life whom you think is feeling a bit weary? How could you encourage him or her this week?

  6. How do you think our church is, as a whole, in “doing good” towards each other? Are there areas in which we could grow? How have you had an opportunity in the last few weeks to “do good” towards another member?

  1. What is something God has been teaching you through your Bible reading this week?

  2. How has last week’s sermon been resonating with you throughout this past week?

  3. What question, conviction, realization, or insight jumped out at you from God’s Word as you listened to the sermon?

  4. Have you ever been provoked by someone else into greater love or greater acts of service? Describe how this happened.

  5. Who are three people in our church that you could provoke to greater love and good works. How will you stir them up in this regard (consider encouragement, exhortation, invitation, example, etc)?

  6. How does one’s attendance on a Sunday morning affect one’s ability to provoke others to love and good works?

  7. How do verses 26 and 27 heighten the importance of the three commands in 10:19–25?

2 Timothy 3:10-17 - Continue in What You Have Believed

+ Application Questions

  1. What is something God has been teaching you through your Bible reading this week?

  2. How has last week’s sermon on the character of God been resonating with you throughout this past week? Have you had any specific circumstances when the Lord allowed you to apply a truth from the sermon to your life?

  3. Who has been influential in your spiritual life, as Paul was to Timothy? When did you become “acquainted with the sacred writings” (childhood? college? adult?)

  4. How have you seen verse 12 be true in your life or the lives of other believers?

  5. How is the exhortation to just “continue” one we need to hear at times?

  6. Is there an area of your life where you just needed to hear the command of “continue” today? (Perhaps you’re feeling weary in a certain area?) How could your friends - your community group - encourage you?

  7. How could you grow in your value of the Scripture, as it is the very words of God? As you look at your day-to-day life, does the way you read, study, meditate on the Bible match the value of Scripture given here in v16-17? Discuss some ways that your group could spur one another on in your value of Scripture reading.

  8. How have you seen Scripture equip you for good works in the past? Think about your life and your current stressors - how could you use Scripture to encourage/challenge/change the way you are viewing this situation?
